Back a year later and WOW - there have been improvements. I gave 5 starts a year ago and I'm giving it another 5 stars. Ambiance is excellent - lighting is great, love the decor, and the playlist? Amazing. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I personally loved jamming out to Avril Lavigne and Linkin Park. Service was also great. Our waitress was attentive and personable. I enjoyed her wine recommendation. Food was fun AND tasty - not always a combo you can put together. The bacon is a show stopper in regards to looks, but it is also very good. It has an in depth flavor and a slight crisp. People may fight over the one pickle they give you. Bread service is a dream - 10/10 bread. It seems that they change the bread up because it was different from the popovers I had in the past. I love the new bread better. I also LOVE that they do the "cut your steak in the middle for me" thing when you order steak. They under cooked one of my guest's steak and fixed it right away. The owner? I think, stopped by our table to check in on us and made sure everything was going smoothly. Great place to celebrate! Is it expensive? Yeah. But hey, I feel the service and food quality is up there.
Situated in the heart of Morristown's Green, which once was the site of George Washington's headquarters, 1776 by David Burke is a 7,000-square-foot space establishment. The most distinct feature in the main dining room is their contemporary 30-seat bar that's square in shape, marble-topped, and wearing sculpted green moss wall hangings that resemble a lush golf course. Adjoining is the Topgolf Swing Suite, which combines the ultimate dining experience with fun sports-themed activities. Some of us came last night as first-timers for a company event. The inside is modern and artsy, with plenty of seating and a bar that commands the room. This is an indoor golf simulation entertainment venue with eight rooms where patrons can play virtual golf as well as simulated sports including baseball, hockey, and soccer. My colleague and I started out with several rounds of golf with six members to a team. Their menu is full of delicious options to choose from the creation of Chef David Burke. As appetizers to share, we decided on the chef's famous Clothesline Bacon, Lobster Dumplings, Fried Calamari, Hipster Fries, Surf and Turf Skewers, Popcorn Chicken, Gruyère Cheddar Herb Brioche Buns, and Tuna & Salmon Tartare Tostones. For our meals, we decided on the Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass and Lemon Roasted Branzino, to name a few. Some of us saved room for dessert and got their DB's Cheesecake Lollipop Tree, Pumpkin Crème Brûlée, Apple Brioche Bread Pudding and Cookie Skillet. The clothesline bacon, consisting of three thick strips of crackly, hickory-smoked, maple-infused bacon, neatly clothespinned to a mini clothesline on a little wooden frame, was a star of the show. It was literally blowtorched in front of our eyes as an Instagram sensation. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food. Every dish we tried was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and incredibly tender. Most of all, the presentation of all plates. Our servers, Christian and James, were the best. They were natural, very patient, attentive, and really knew how to make this event enjoyable, which we can recommend.
Loved our impromptu Happy Hr! While our bartender was anything but friendly, the food and drinks were fantastic! I absolutely will be back! The sliders and oysters were so delicious! I highly recommend giving this gorgeously decorated spot a shot!
Overall a great experience. Service was great, and it was easy to get a reservation. The reservations are currently through Sevenrooms and I think they used to be through Resy AND needed a deposit. Well, assuming my memory is correct, that is not true anymore. Though this was my first time here, I was familiar with the parking garage. That still doesn't make it a slam dunk knowing where you are. The construction on the main level makes things more confusing and even though I know Morristown pretty well, going outside to find the place after parking is a little disorienting if you haven't done this recently. The place is much bigger than I thought. I never looked at the menu online before, and I was happy to see there were a good number of choices to be had here. The Clothesline Bacon - black pepper, maple glaze, pickle, lemon is to die for. Any place looking to serve bacon as an appetizer should serve it this way. It was nice to see an extremely light a crispy fry to the Rock Shrimp & Calamari - zucchini, shishito peppers, citrus aioli. The Fried Goat Cheese & Strawberry Salad mixed greens, almonds, orange vinaigrette was good though a little light on the goat cheese part. Sharing the 34 oz Dry Aged Prime Porterhouse with the table worked out well. The Hipster Fries - shishito peppers, bacon, parmesan and the General Tso's Broccoli & Cauliflower contains cashews (very unique) were great sides. Enough food to take some home as well. The best experience ever? No, but certainly good enough to be back to try more things on the menu.
